Assignment 2

After Mr. Schlichtmann completed his work on the Woburn Wells G & H case, he began to advocate alternative approaches to conflict resolution (rather than "declaring war"). Once you have been assigned to your stakeholder group, familiarize yourself with the facts of the case (BY READING MATERIAL AND WATCHING THE VIDEO CLIPS REFERENCED ON THE WEBPAGE) and try (to the best of your ability) to adopt the perspective (and bias) of that stakeholder.

Work with your stakeholder peers to develop a negotiating position, then meet with other stakeholders to develop a consent decree. Remember, don't "give away the farm," but be open to other perspectives. Don't be guided by the outcome of the case - this is a fresh start and all bets are off.

Once your negotiations have come to a conclusion, write up and sign a consent decree, or a similar document explaining why you were unable to arrive at a negotiated settlement.
