Subchronic Toxicity Testing
- Designed to determine if repeated exposure over a moderate length of time results in toxicity (10% of lifespan).
- In rodents, usually oral exposure over a 90 day period.
- Usually performed in one rodent and one non-rodent species.
- Frequently used to determine Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) - as indicated by a 10% reduction in body weight.
